India's first public EV charger tender
Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), Ministry of Power
EESL — a joint venture of PSUs under the Ministry of Power — ran India's first public tender for EV chargers. EVIT won it, and on 11 December 2017 received the Letter of Award for 50 AC charging units compatible with the Bharat AC-001 specification.
What EVIT delivered
- Location survey, planning and engineering for each site
- Manufacturing and supply of 50 Bharat AC-001 compatible chargers
- Erection and commissioning at government sites in New Delhi
- Five-year comprehensive on-site warranty
Outcome
The chargers went into daily service for EESL's electric car fleet at the Ministry of Power, Shram Shakti Bhawan, MNRE and SDMC parking. In March 2018 an EVIT charger stood at the Ministry of Power's National Launch of the Electric Mobility Programme.

2,100 chargers for a government PSU
Broadcast Engineering Consultants India Ltd (BECIL), Government of India enterprise
BECIL — a Government of India enterprise under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting — placed a purchase order on 23 September 2022 for 2,100 electric vehicle chargers on a pan-India basis, complete with maintenance and management software.
What EVIT delivered
- Guaranteed technical parameters and specifications, approved by BECIL
- Supply of 3.3 kW and 22 kW chargers, site survey and accessories
- Comprehensive annual maintenance across the deployment
- EVIT Central Management Software: support, backend server, system integration and communication
Outcome
SGS, the global inspection and certification company, inspected every lot as third-party inspector before dispatch — the scale and the paperwork a government buyer expects.
