On 11 December 2017, Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) — a joint venture of PSUs under the Ministry of Power — issued EVIT a Letter of Award for 50 AC charging units compatible with the Bharat AC-001 specification. It was India's first public EV charger tender.

The contract covered the whole job: location survey, planning, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection and commissioning, with a five-year comprehensive on-site warranty.

Why it still matters

Being first meant solving problems no one in India had solved yet: Indian grid conditions, government procurement standards and daily use by official fleets. That experience is built into every EVIT charger we make today.
